Since his two year work-study associateship at the Banff Centre For The Arts, Phil has endeavoured to create sound and music for films, dance, theatre, musical performance, art installation and music recordings. Phil especially loves working in documentary film which never fails to reveal new views and insights into the universe, contributing to our knowledge, appreciation and wonder of it all. His combined sound design and musical score for Ali Kazimi’s Continuous Journey was awarded the Golden Sheaf award at the Yorkton Film Festival for Best Music – and two Gemini nominations; one for Best Music and another for Best Sound. Phil earned a Gemini for his music in the acclaimed documentary, Cat Ladies, and shared another Gemini with partner Laurel MacDonald for the soundtrack to Moze Mossanen’s dance film Year of the Lion. With a history of collaborating with traditional artists to create compelling musical tapestries, medleys and hybrids, Phil ejoyed interacting with diegetic performances in the Village of Dreams.
